Since the present owners arrived in 2005, the wildlife garden at Higher Trenedden has been in a state of continued expansion. Firstly, a patio, lawn and herbaceous borders were redeveloped, followed by an arboretum and vegetable garden. With parcels of land having been acquired over a decade, a large pond was dug, a wildflower meadow was sown and a wetland with boardwalks for year-round access was established. A ‘new’ area of old woodland leads to the highest part of the nine acres that are available to explore and enjoy.
Headland is a steep, terraced rock garden, set at the mouth of Fowey Harbour with stunning views out to sea and of the harbour itself. Built over many years by the previous incumbents, the terraces form separate garden rooms, scattered down the cliff. Recently, a new house has been built and a perennial meadow and new plantings now surround it. With uneven steps, which may be slippery, this garden is, unfortunately, not suitable for disabled access.
The booking form will be published in the Members’ area of this website and be available in hard copy upon request from the organiser in March 2023.
