Cornwall Garden Society is all about celebrating the unique beauty of Cornish gardens, exchanging tips, ideas and knowledge, meeting up for lectures and garden visits and, of course, making new friends.
Our origins go back to 1832 when the inaugural meeting of the Royal Horticultural Society of Cornwall was held, supported by the patronage of King William IV ‘who was graciously pleased to place the sum of £10. 10s. 0d (ten guineas)’ at the Society’s disposal. That royal support has continued and today we are very honoured to have HRH Prince Charles as our patron.
We have a packed programme of events throughout the year. In early spring we hold the prestigious CGS Spring Flower Show, the largest horticultural show outside London, our 'Chelsea of the South West.' This will be held at the Royal Cornwall Showground, Wadebridge on 6 and 7 April 2019.
Our members have some truly beautiful and interesting gardens. Take a look to see some of the wonderful things growing.
You can take out CGS membership as an individual or as a family and there are lots of benefits.
The Cornwall Garden Society are working in partnership with St Austell-based social enterprise, Perennial Harvest to offer hands-on horticultural workshops in the run up to this year's Spring Flower Show to help children of all ages create their entries and try their hand at winning a prize in our junior competitive classes.
The second pre-Show session will be held at Wheal Martyn Clay Works in St Austell on Saturday 30th March, and this one is a free, drop-in workshop between 10.30am and 1.30pm.
